You gotta love me!

He comes out of his shell more and more as each day goes by. I don't mean to say that he was in a shell, per se, but he's just blossoming. He had a happy tail wrap when I got him and that's healed but I'm sure it's because that helicopter tail kept hitting the bars in the kennel for too long. At least now he can wag it without hitting something all the time. And wag it he does. He was in the backyard this morning and came in with a bloody paw but let me wrap it without any trouble and all. He's just so easy going. He's starting to run a little more with Roz who has been wanting a running buddy for a long time. He only runs halfway around though. He doesn't go up on the hill like she's used to and likes to do. He's a kind of "middle of the road" runner. Loves to chase balls and frisbees. Brings the balls back but doesn't pick up the frisbees yet. He loves toys and takes them all over the house. I hope he never loses this zest for life. It's absolutely precious.

I like to explore.

He's had a pig's ear and now a bully stick. He savors his cookies while my girls inhale them. He loves to lay in the sun and stretch out. He only woke me up twice last night scratching at his bed trying to get it perfect before he lays down. A few hours later he goes through the same routine.

Dart likes to explore everywhere. Our master bedroom is downstairs so we very seldom go upstairs. Dart followed me up to wake the kids up two days ago and now has figured out that he can go up there and stretch out and be alone while the kids are at school. He goes upstairs lays down and then comes back down, all on his own. I've never had to show him how to go up and only twice how to come down. He's very independent but still seeks me out when he wants attention and loves. He just puts his head against your chest, (when you're sitting down), and wants to be petted.

I tried to set him up last night with savory steak on the counter attached by a string to a can of coins. He sniffed it a few times but left it alone. He's tall enough that he only has to lift his nose up a little to reach the counter. He stole a cookie off my daughter's plate earlier in the night but maybe us yelling "NO" scared him enough not to steal again. I will try again later to cure if for good.

So far I've only had one correction when he looked like he was getting ready to lift his leg on one of our chairs. He stopped and I put him outside and he peed. He pees on command all the time. No accidents so far but I make sure he goes out pretty regularly. I'll ease up once I see he's into a routine.

He loves to chase the ball and brings it back too. Which is half the battle. He doesn't seem to like to run so there's no problem with tearing up your backyard grass. He runs after the ball, runs back with it in his mouth and drops it near me.

Dart is sprung!

I picked Dart up from the kennel yesterday. He laid down almost as soon as he got in the SUV but that only lasted for a while. He was quiet the entire time though and didn't pace.

When I introduced him to my girls, he was completely at ease. He's about 3" taller than both of my girls. Not one ounce of problem and he only took an hour or so before he calmed himself down enough to lay down on one of the soft beds in the familyroom.

I don't have a crate large enough for him (his racing weight was 79) so I just closed our bedroom door so he was contained and couldn't pace. He woke up several times and all three dogs played musical beds all night long. He came over to my side of the bed a couple times and laid his head on my shoulder. Oh, he's stealing my heart. He settled down and ate breakfast without trying to get in the other dogs bowls. He eats slower than they do though.

I cut his nails and he was awesome. Didn't pull away or whine. He just stood there and was so patient. I also cleaned his ears and again he was so good. I have fostered a few dogs now and this dog is so comfortable in his own skin. He's just a calm comfortable easy going dog.

Stop and smell the daisies...

Mr. Dart has such a heart....he has been at the kennel for awhile, and all he wants is to find his forever home.

He is a great greyhound. Please consider this loving boy!

Sweetheart Dart

Boy oh boy did we have a hard time leaving this boy the other night. I thought my son was going to carry him to the car. Dart is a precious thing and so playful and sweet. He's going to make someone a great companion! He's so beautiful and exotic looking too.

Dart enjoyed playing with the ball last night, but you can see that he quickly gave up the chance to play with the ball for love and affection. He is such a lover!

Be still my heart! This big boy is so loving and gentle. He walks on a leash beautifully and is one of the most striking dogs I've ever seen. His coat is gorgeous and so is his confirmation! He just wants to be loved on and is a real leaner, I love that. What a great dog he will make for some loving family! Eda Holt
